The mnemonics

Recipe for success to famous memory trainers

You know the basic principles of ancient Greek mnemonics since your school days - in the form of the well-known memory aids. But how do mnemonics work? What makes them so unique?

Two halves of the brain – twice the learning capacity

We mainly use the left brain for everyday tasks in our private or professional lives. It handles the logical, analytical and abstract thinking.

Almost all learning methods (face-to-face classroom teaching, rote learning) address the left brain while its counterpart on the other side of the head remains largely untapped.

The rarely employed right hemisphere houses our creative potential. It reacts with high activity to images, emotions, and sounds – characteristics that are omitted largely in most learning methods. This distribution is even worse when we realize that long-term memory is also located in the right brain.
